Hangover Sundays

hangover.jpg
Thus passes another unproductive weekend here in the Big Mango, but then again i suppose that’s what weekends are for. I’d spent the latter part of this past week working all afternoon and evening to finish up Chapter 2 of my Independent Study, because the syllabus had said that i needed to present my finished Chapter Saturday morning to the dean “big hair.” So, being the good student that I am, i worked hard all last week to get it done. So Saturday morning rolls around and i got up at 7:30 and made my way down to Grad school in a taxi to get there on time. When i got there dean “big hair” was rushing off, and said that she didn’t have time to meet me to go over my progress, as there was some special lecture on that I suddenly should be attending.

So, yes i was irritated, but not shocked as this sort of thing is all to common at the department of this university where i’m studying. I managed to sneak away and headed back home to try and make a productive day regardless so headed off to the gym. I ran into my dearest friend here in Bangkok, and we decided to share a couple of bottles of wine to pass the evening away. We then decided to head off to Silom road where there are a number of bars that cater to folks like us and had a good evening at Telephone bar. I didn’t really drink “that” much, but for some odd reason I get bad hangovers living here in southeast Asia no matter how much i drink. I say this cause when i went home I never got these kind of hangovers, when I spent some wonderful evenings drinking with my brother and sister. Also, its comforting to know that its not just me cause other people have told me stories of experiencing the same living here and enjoying an evening of friends and alcohol. We met this cute American Asian guy at Telephone and had a nice chat with him as he was here on holiday. However, his friends turned up and literally dragged him away giving us this unfriendly look like we were 2 trolls about to devour his friend. I hate that about gay people, as we were just having a normal friendly chat with someone in a bar. No need to be bitchy to someone you don’t even know. Ended up having a good night anyways, but certainly paying for it a bit today. You’d think with all the advances in medical science that someone would come up with a hangover cure, right? I mean who hasn’t had one at some point in time in their life. I was going to blog about a topic today, but I think i’ll wait till tomorrow and do another one. I just don’t feel very constructive and creative right now. :-) Take care and hope everyone is having a great weekend thus far. Someone pass me a couple of asprin!
