Hello! Stumbled upon your blog from twitter. A local here, I just want to sympathize with you for not being particularly enthusiastic about our national holiday. As I grew up I've progressed from enjoying Songkran to hating it to being indifferent and now I've learned to like many aspects of it even though I don't actively participate anymore. Next year if you prefer to stay dry, try department stores which tend to be surprisingly uncrowded since most people will either be away in the upcountry or out there on the street. Skytrain can provide safe passage if you need to go anywhere. Other than that, except for the busiest downtown roads, it's still relatively safe to walk!

Hi A.Ho and Kay thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Yes i suppose if I were here for a vacation specifically to join in the event (which I have done in the past) then it would be fun as usual. However, if you don't want to participate then it is basically house arrest for a few days.
Also, the little things that I don't like or understand have varying different degrees of effect on me. Some days I feel very intolerant and some days I just smile and shake my head. Just depends, but like I said life would probably be like that wherever I end up in this crazy world we live in. Thanks so much for the comments guys!

I understand you, I also hate songkran!
But for the rest of Thailand I'm sure you're soon going to forget all the little things that you think you will never like or understand... believe me...
